National Signing day is upon us.
Now, given recent history, I personally have never, and I mean never been this excited for signing day in a long while. And it is because of one reason: David Oku.
David Oku is the top rated all purpose running back in his class. Since committing to Tennessee, he has made official trips to Syracuse and Auburn, and since has backed out of his commitment to the Vols. Is Auburn sexy to recruits? Absolutely. But is Oku going to go to Auburn and play for Gene Chizik, a man who loses almost as much as GRob? Or maybe, just maybe Marrone and his RB's coach, formerly at Tennessee, snag him right from underneath everyone.
If we can steal Oku from Tennessee, I will officially jump the Marrone bandwagon. I wasn't all that excited when Daryl hired him, but the more I learn and hear about him the more excited I am getting. He legitimately went through his entire coaching career to get to the job that he is at now. He impresses more and more by the day.
Other than Oku (potentially), the class is mediocre. However, we are stealing the mediocrity that was going to be going to South Florida and Louisville, so it can't be all that bad. We are taking the talent away from the other Big East schools, which will definitely put us in the competitive ranks in the Big East, and hopefully soon.
Finally, there is also a basketball game tonight. And a big one at that. 'Cusetown takes on West Virginia at 7 in the Carrier Dome. Now, granted we have been struggling mightily lately, and Big Daddy Arinze might not play. I still say Syracuse wins big. Rick Jackson will be his old self and come up huge, with Devendorf as the leading scorer. Rautins will play, but will be quiet, and Jonny Flynn will have somewhere in the 12-14 point range with 6 assists. Don't believe me? Turn on ESPN tonight and waaaatch...
'Cuse Big
Syracuse 82
West Virginia 68
